Building Healthy Futures for Our Community:
A Campaign for St. Joseph's Neighborhood Center

Fast Facts

Why a campaign now? — The number of people who lack access to health care because they have no health insurance, have inadequate coverage, or cannot afford the co-payments continues to increase at a frightening pace. More than 70% of those who come to us are employed, but they do not earn enough to afford to pay for health insurance.

In three months we have gone from an average 800 monthly appointments to 1,354 — a 70% increase!

We are literally out of room. We desperately need additional space for medical exam and treatment rooms, for individual and group counseling, and for laboratory, reception and medical office functions in order to handle the ever-increasing need for services. Technology needs are more complex than when we began 15 years ago requiring significant investment in hardware and software, telephones and other equipment. New and expanded programs are needed, requiring additional staffing and staff training.

What have we accomplished so far? — Networked computer systems and electronic patient scheduling are now in place. We purchased the building directly to our south and have begun renovation and new construction to connect our current facility with the new one. Once the new building renovation is complete, additional renovation will begin in our current building. The end result will be more medical exam, treatment and counseling rooms; more practitioner and administrative space; reconfiguration of patient welcoming and discharge areas and procedures; and upgraded patient chart and medication management areas.

What is the cost of these efforts? — $1 Million. This includes the building purchase; all renovation and construction; furnishings; technology; staffing and program support.

What has been raised so far? — Thanks to generous donations from individuals, foundations, and our board of directors, we have raised over $621,000 toward this goal. Every member of our Board of Directors has fully supported this campaign and we will wrap up our Volunteer and Staff Campaign early in the spring.
