Nearly 400 imps and angels came out for “Heaven & Hell, Halos & Horns,” the 22nd annual party and auction to benefit St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center. The event was held on June 1st at Temple B’rith Kodesh. Hosted by Chairpersons Wade and Lisa Norwood, the event raised a record net profit of $87,500, which will benefit the Center’s ongoing health care programs for the uninsured and under-insured.
Guests arriving dressed as their inner angel or devil enjoyed plentiful beer and wine-tastings, heavenly food stations, divine desserts, and jazz music by Three on the Floor Jazz Quartet. More than 125 silent and live items were offered by guest auctioneer, Dr. John Gillespie. Dinner for eight to be catered by Sr. Christine Wagner, a cocktail cruise on Conesus Lake, and a carpet provided by Messner Carpet, were among the highest-raising auction items.
Honorary Chairpersons Wade and Lisa Norwood addressed the crowd, stating, “We are pleased to support the Neighborhood Center. The Center provides a unique and very important service to the Rochester community. This is a wonderful way to give the Center our support.”
Christine Wagner, SSJ, Executive Director, thanked the crowd stating, “We are grateful for so many sponsors and friends who make our work possible.” Sponsors of the event included Dave Guadagnino and Mary Beauchamp, Monroe Plan for Medical Care, Excellus BlueCrossBlue Shield, Gallo & Iacovangelo, Highland Hospital/University of Rochester, The Monroe County Dental Society, Rochester Regional Health, St. John Fisher College, United Healthcare, and many more.
A steering committee of ten members collected the auction items and provided unique decorations of harps, pitchforks, halos, pearly gates and street signs guiding guests to heaven and hell. The Neighborhood Center is grateful to all angels who helped make the event a success, from committee members, to sponsors, to auction donors and guests. Each year, the success of the annual fund raiser rests on such support.
