Information for Change Teams

Organizational Change

We have found that change does not happen in an organization - especially around something like structural racism - without a dedicated and sustained effort.  We have found that a team within the institution can have a big impact.  But they need to do their homework, preparation and ongoing learning/action.  Below are some resources that we have found useful as we have engaged these processes.

The Change Team will:

  • begin (or deepen) conversations on racism within the organization (paying attention to all four levels )
  • build group cohesion around issues of race
  • review internal policies, procedures and practices
  • identify systemic barriers in need to be addressed
  • build capacity within the organization to enact change

The ultimate goal of the teams would be to:

  • assess existing policies and procedures, organizational values, and internal culture
  • increase opportunities for people of color to obtain higher paying positions within businesses and organizations
  • increase leadership opportunities that will diversify management and executive levels at local businesses and organizations
