Mission Statement

St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center, in the tradition of the Sisters of St. Joseph, seeks to identify and respond to the unique health and social needs of individuals and communities in the greater Rochester region.

About Us

St. Joseph's Neighborhood Center provides person-centered comprehensive primary and specialty care, mental health counseling, support services and referrals, healthcare access assistance, and more to individuals and families who are uninsured and under-insured in the greater Rochester area.

Established in 1993 as a ministry of the Sisters of St. Joseph, and becoming an independent nonprofit in 2012, the Center is committed to raising the health status and quality of life of individuals and families in our area.

Staffing:

  • 20 full- and part-time employees.
  • Over 80 health care professionals and 25 counselors and social workers, both staff and volunteers.
  • 50 student interns annually from area colleges.
  • Over 80 other lay and professional volunteers.
  • Over 250 volunteers log in an average of 850 hours per month, with a total value of more than $2 million annually.

Who we serve:

In 2022, the Center served approximately 1,400 individuals at 5,800 unique visits. Patients and clients come primarily from the Rochester area and surrounding counties; however, there are no geographic or other limitations to service. Any uninsured or under-insured individual is welcome. Anyone who cannot access healthcare is welcome at St. Joseph's Neighborhood Center.

  • 70 percent of our patients and clients are the working poor.
  • Approximately 1,000 walk-in clients are served each year with use of the Center's telephone, fax/copier and mailing address.
  • Bread, We Care Kits (hygiene bags), and referrals for food/clothing/shelter and apartment rentals are also provided.

Funded by caring souls, like you.
